Questions for you:
What does an expansive YES feel like for you?
What does a restrictive, tightening of a NO feel like for you?

What and how does your body communicate with you?
Are you overriding, ignoring or totally missing subtle messages?

I have come full circle with myself on these questions and, noted an undermining pattern…

The pattern was to second-guess a thought that could not be substantiated by logic and trusting the vibes of others more than my own. I had spent time reading and attending plenty of development classes – but, I had not found my way to trusting my vibes beyond logic.

Issue being, understanding and validating our vibes – trusting our intuitive process is an important step in our development… Trust is a like the beams that hold up your house…

So, here is some advice for awakening men and women:

You must learn to recognize and trust the language of your soul.
You must pay attention and to notice our body, our mind and our heart.

I know it can be tough to think, feel and sense “subtle energies” but, it’s important.

First off – we have many senses and we all use them differently…..

The long and short of it is that we need to test our communication system to see how we receive from each channel…. We need to test out which channel is strongest and strengthen the other channels by actively using conscious communication.

The channels looks like this –

 • Seeing without using your eyes to see physically – images like a memory.
 • Hearing without using your ears to hear physically – words/sentences within your mind.
 • Sensing without touch comes into your whole body as heat, cold, tingles, etc…
 • Feeling without emotional highs comes from your heart as an overall vibration/tone.
 • Knowing without having studied, investigated or applied logic comes as an idea or awareness that sweeps right over you.
 • Smelling or tasting what is not physically present is another channel to note.

The above breaks down the channels of how we can receive and how we can connect with subtle dimensions, spirits, angels and more.

I invite you to make this your priority.

Bring a scene from your past, a beautiful scene into your consciousness and focus on each channel to see where and how you receive.

I will use myself as an example…. and, here goes.

I love questions… as an Empath, I love hearing the varied perceptions and realities that come to that table when one probes deeper to connect with others.

I am curious…. always have been and yet, there is a mood – a time and space that brings this out in me… This is the time my extrovert comes out to play… she enjoys play which raises her level of excitement with adrenalin… When she is in this “mood”, the worst thing for her is to be bored…. which, brings out a side that will not be ignored…. an annoying side that will do anything in that moment to entertain herself…. (you laughing yet?)There is another side that is pretty strong. That would be the introvert side of me. This side doesn’t like hectic rushing, demands on her time, chaos or crazy people in her space. Above all else, my introvert loves her space for creativity, peace and quiet.

There are also other sides…. I have a mothering way about me… I have a no-nonsense way about me….. I have a skeptic that shows up on the scene….. I have a passionate, creative entrepreneur full of ideas…. I have an insecure part that doesn’t feel good enough…. I have a play-it-safe side that stays on the sidelines… I have a quiet observer that watches and analyzes… I have a romantic side that loves to tease… and, I have a mystical side that knows how to move beyond the logical mind….

Did you keep up?

Are all of these aspects truly me? The answer is YES – these are all parts of me operating in the background.

How is this possible?

How is besides the point…. truth and reality is not logical.
All these energies reside within me… seen only when you take a closer look.

It’s important to note that each of us is a complex, multi-faceted individuals.

We function as diamonds with many facets… When the light hits this diamond in certain ways, light streams from certain facets…. Light comes in to activate the energies that we carry within our subtle energy body. These lights are activated by patterns of behavior, circumstances and people within our experience. Some lights are consciously noticed. Other lights come in to active us in subconscious ways.

Additionally…..

We have those sides we love. We show those to the world.
We have those sides we see as weak or vulnerable. We hide those from the world.

When you start paying attention to yourself – you notice when and how you show up in the world…. you become more introspective…. you notice where and when fear shows up….. you notice what makes you beam with happiness…. you notice what tenses you up…..

The assignment for those of you a bit more ambitions is to PAY ATTENTION more fully to what ASPECTS or SIDES OF YOU show up on the scene in this upcoming month.

I want you to notice how many sides exists and, do how you feel about each side.

The Awakening Path is one that goes deeper. You understand yourself in new ways. Your goal is to see all sides of “the crystal.” Your job is to face and clear density so you can shine stronger within the sacredness of your experience.

The post Energy and Empaths appeared first on .

]]>

First, let me talk a little about the word ENERGY!!

It’s not a bad or crazy word. In most circles, energy is a term that tells people how energized they feel or how emotionally excited they feel at any given point and time. We eat food, we exercise and we even relax to help us manage our energy.

In general, people think of energy as something to be preserved, gained or restored. We talk in general terms that we are low in energy to complain when we have no extra to give to others. We then talk of high energy when we attend a fun event or socialize with wonderful people. You will also see us talk about feeling down when we are at a sad event or around people that are not so wonderful.

To most, the word energy is something we must have, get or maintain. Why is this?? Because…. we feel tired when we lack energy – meaning, we have nothing left to function. In summary –

We give ENERGY!

We get ENERGY!

We are ENERGY!

Wow – there is the brilliant idea the metaphysical world has been trying to tell us about. The concept has been rather tough to prove logically since most of us need to see something to believe it – and, we see ourselves as simply physical bodies. But – that physical body runs on nourishment, rest and exercise. That physical body needs a form of fuel that allows it to function – a sort of “electricity” you can say. Energy is the unseen that allows us to function on a daily basis.

As you can see, the word energy is more LOADED for Empaths!

The Empath believes the metaphysical world that says everything is energy! The Empath knows we are energetic beings. Most Empaths feel the energetic body; others can see it. The Empath knows that in every interaction with another, there is an energy exchange beyond shaking hands or saying hello.

The bottom line here is that the Empath is affected by energy seen and unseen. The Empath is an intuitive with higher sense perception. This gift allows Empaths to feel and know things about people on a more intimate level. The gift of knowing and feeling goes hand-in-hand with an Empath’s ability to help others heal.

What do I mean by heal? I am talking about emotional healing – helping that person understand, release or see their life situation from a higher perspective. The person being helped doesn’t truly see what is happening other than they love talking to Susie the Empath. They enjoy the connection because they always walk away with a smile or at least, feeling better.

What happens in this exchange with an Empath?

There’s a clearing or transmutation from a merging of energy.

An Empath also uses the term energy to describe how someone feels to them. The Empath is able to determine via intuitive vibe (knowing or feeling) many things about another person. Most notably we connect with the emotional layer – although, we have the capacity to connect to physical ailments and thought patterns.

The interesting observation is that mostly, people are totally uninterested and unaware in knowing, acknowledging or feeling anything that is inside of them. They often fear negative emotions and refuse to visit any uncomfortable situation in their life. As such, negative emotions remain buried and take up permanent residence within them!

Energetic blocks are caused by emotions that remain buried in the body. These blocks –as they accumulate – lead to physical, mental or emotional issues.

I hope this article helped you gain new understanding.

What is medication? “A drug to diagnose, cure, or treat, or prevent a disease.” So says Wikipedia. Merriam-Webster says more nebulously, “the act or process of medicating;” or, “a medicinal substance.” The OED defines it as, “drug or other form of medicine that is used to prevent disease.”

As society becomes more and more connected, and humans continue to live longer, the definition keeps subtly shifting. Technology is being integrated not only into our daily lives via lap-tops, but also via changing treatments such as stem cell research, and the growth of new tissue. It’s an exciting time to be alive, and a disconcerting time as well. The borders between, “technology,” and, “human,” are melting away. This is certainly becoming readily apparent in popular movies such as, “Alita, Battle Angel.”

All creatures are born with the drive to survive. If that is not consistently fulfilled, it becomes injured. There are so many creatures out there now, with a simple need to feel grounded by real earth or have home and food needs met. It is no wonder that it pervades the common spiritual need, and it is a greater psychic need.

All creatures are born with the drive to survive.

Where do people turn to to fill simple, small needs that one might not consider injuries, but are in fact expressions of psychic needs? Common expressions are over-using caffeine, sugar, and alcohol. Co-dependencies of any kind, such as food, sex, validation, smoking, prescription or non-prescription drugs are all an expression of a wound.

Unfortunately, simple anxieties are triggered very easily in modern society. Living close together in cities, long workdays, loneliness, and dissociation are all quite common.

These anxieties are often relatively easily alleviated with simple, repeated treatment, but often the anxiety gets so bad that self-medication has simply gotten out of control. People with pre-existing trauma have an extra-hard time with this. Those who are destined to be wounded healers have first the task of trekking through their own issues before they aid others.

Those who are destined to be wounded healers have first the task of trekking through their own issues before they aid others.

How can people in the spiritual community take note, and aid others to fulfill, instead of overfill? Begin with the self. It always behooves one to look inwards. Equally important, examining how one’s anxieties are affecting one’s simple interactions in the world. Healing with the elements, relaxing, breathing, and allowing oneself to feel the literal or figurative ground beneath allows the entire group to feel more relaxed and at ease. It’s that simple.

Breathing and allowing the energy to flow through you can be called being a channel, and it’s easy to be a channel for the wrong feelings. Being a talented channel for the positive and soothing feelings of a single person or a group and or a vessel takes practice and dedication. Sometimes there are those who call themselves mirrors or sponges. There are many people with these traits. It can be a bit dangerous for those who discover it, and find that suddenly people start to avoid them for some unknown reason. Seeing one’s true self in the mirror is addictive, at first. Then it gets embarrassing, seeing all those little flaws. Sound familiar?

Seeing one’s true self in the mirror is addictive, at first. Then it gets embarrassing, seeing all those little flaws.

Anxiety is a noted awakening of kundalini. Learning how to control this energy is a natural process. Whether it is or not anxiety is associated with kundalini, it is recognised that meditation helps anxiety in many cases.

In order to help others in the community that are not as awake, being a stabilising channel is a good course of action. It is good to note that a new person on the path may cling if one is the only person around with clean energy. Setting firm boundaries and modeling good behaviour is absolutely necessary. Suggesting but not dictating a correct path is also good. The path of excellence is always a choice for others, and it is their interpretations and life to choose.

The path of excellence is always a choice for others, and it is their interpretations and life to choose.

Medicating oneself or being medication for others is not appropriate. This is different from giving aid out of compassion or being loving to oneself. Generosity should be delineated from prescription.

Integrity of the body, mind, and spirit should always be kept as the goal, but it doesn’t work when one has surgery or a chronic illness requiring medication. So where do these ideas meet? In the alembic of personal belief systems.

We medicate ourselves – over and under our personal boundaries. Aiding one another to the path we are each meant to follow, we raise the other higher.

Aiding one another to the path we are each meant to follow, we raise the other higher.

Now that we have viewed depression from a physical stand point, let’s take a look at our environment and how it impedes or replenishes joy into our daily lives.

Family and Friends

Jealousy in these relationships is very unhealthy and also very counterproductive for growth and development in any aspect of your life and the lives of the ones around you. If you notice you get better energy from strangers than your own inner circle it’s a BIG warning sign to Run!

If you notice you get better energy from strangers than your own inner circle it’s a BIG warning sign to Run!

Now I understand with finances and lack of community support this can be difficult and take more time than you would like to make a move. But your life isn’t here to be miserable, it’s here to blossom like a flower. You can view yourself as a plant, and view the ones closest to you as other plants in a garden. How does it look, feel, smell, when you look from this perspective. Do you feel like a flower with little pests eating holes in your leaves?

I would have compared myself to that flower when I was living in direct vicinity with individuals who did not feed my interests or emotional needs. There is a concept in healthy organic gardening called Companion Planting. It is based in chemistry between the plants, and how some aid each other’s growth and others die in the presence of another plant due to it absorbing the same nutrients or releasing things the other plant does not require.

A pretty flower flourishing in a healthy garden really has a lot to do with what’s growing around the flower. Being different than the ones you have been raised around might seem challenging but if you plant yourself with people who are like minded you can find your experience of life change completely.

A pretty flower flourishing in a garden

Location:

Do you resonate with where you live, or are you simply there because it is where you have always been? Are you bored with your routine and interactions on a daily basis? Does the level of comfort with your surroundings feel binding?

I have lived in different states and different cultural zones in America and it’s so interesting how a change of environment can change your outlook on life and also the way you are being treated on a regular basis. Societal factors, expectations, and social status contribute to living a life that does not serve you spiritually. The world would feel like a better place if everyone chased their dreams full force. It would be so cool if our friends and family supported our ideas and dreams as well but that’s not always the case.

Work:

I have worked for the best management and the worst; it’s so amazing how things can change when you are working with difficult people vs. people of integrity. You can’t chance the workplace, but you can change yourself. Applying to jobs that appeal to your desires, spiritual, and mental development or physical needs can be revitalizing.

Some jobs that are emotionally fulfilling can be working for your local recycling program, no-kill animal shelters, non-profit organizations, locally owned companies, or vacation retreats, resorts, or campgrounds. These jobs are small in comparison to corporate positions but they are out there. Being in the sun, doing what you’re passionate about, helping your community are all things that fulfill the organic soul while working a job that you don’t like dulls all aspects of your life.

Cleaning your Aura and Chakras with the 3 S’s:

The three S’s are salt, sage, and sound healing. Salt removes negative energy from you, your home, and your belongings. It can be sprinkled on the floor prior to sweeping, added to your body wash and shampoo, used for cleaning dishes, and put in your laundry detergent. This is a passive way to clear your auric field and energetic space regularly.

3 S's to replenish joy

As a self-taught specialist in Hand Massage, I love adding salt in my hand wash. Anytime I use it throughout the day it is not only cleaning my skin, but purifying the very crucial energy centres in the body. These energy centres are conductors for the physical transmission of energy healing.

As far as sage goes, I love adding rose petals and lavender to my smudge sticks, and always remember to leave windows open to allow the smoke to exit a room, home, or vehicle. Sage Goddess has a wonderful range of smudges here.

Sound healing is a great way to amplify your environment, I love crystal bowls and Tibetan singing bowls. Sage Goddess has some beautiful singing bowls here. These can be listened to in the car, while you clean, sleep, or played behind regular music simultaneously. Other sounds to cause energetic change for the better are listening to music on YouTube with Hertz frequencies such 852 hz or 528 hz. I have also noticed my wind chimes sometimes vibrate the same sounds as singing bowls and require no technology to hear.

Sound healing to amplify your environment

Air & Fire is the second part of our 2 Part series on Healing with the elements. Read part one here. We all know these elements, but do we know how they affect us and how we can use them in our daily lives to restore balance and bring healing to ourselves and our environment? As an Andean Solar Priest, we are taught about the intricate relationship between the elements of nature as well as their influence upon us as humans. In this 2 part series I would love to share a few basic insights based on the teachings of the Sacred Andean Tradition.

AIR – Purifies us

Take a deep breath, let it go; you just experienced life. Something autonomous we barely pay attention to keeps us alive, every minute of every day, even when we sleep – imagine the power it can have if we work with it consciously!

Take a deep breath - you just experienced life.

Air is life, just think about the breath of life. It carries within it the vital oxygen that fuels our cells. But when something is exposed to air in the wrong way it will be killed, dried out until it becomes nothing but dust. It can move dynamically, lifting things off the ground, causing instability, breaking trees, shattering windows. It also blows the seeds across the fields, carrying them to a resting place to sprout and grow.

This element governs our mental energy and communication. From a soft whisper to the loudest scream, air is needed to initiate the vibration of the sound as well as to carry it over to someone’s ears. Our thoughts, like the wind, are sometimes soft and quiet, other times gusty and strong, or even spiraling out of control like a tornado. Our thoughts too can create instability in our lives, break and shatter us. Our words too can break and shatter those around us. All from the air we breathe.

He is wise and teaches us the value of silence. He can carry our messages across the earth, across worlds even. When our mind becomes anxious and loud, he can bring us calmness. When our thoughts become impure, he can blow through us, lifting the dirt and debris from our minds. When we have ideas and wishes we want to bring in to the world, he can carry these seeds across the fields to find the right place for it to sprout to life.

Air teaches us the value of silence

Walk around and become aware of the air. There does not need to be any wind for you to work with this element – every breath moves the air. Focus on your breathing and feel the air fill every part of you. Feel it swirl through your mind, purifying your thoughts, calming your anxiety and clearing your mind, returning you to focus. Feel it move through your body, charging every cell with its gift of life, reenergizing you at a cellular level.

Ask it to carry your messages to those you wish to connect to, send the seeds of your thoughts and ideas to their place of germination. Be conscious of his presence all around you and ask him to move through your being, purifying you on all levels. Open your heart to him with love and thank him for the work that has been done.

FIRE – Sanctifies us

What a magical element. He can trap you in a gaze for long periods, stilling your mind and opening your heart. Fire burns within us as passion, ambition, purpose as well as rage, hatred and vengeance, all of which can become very dangerous to us and those around us.

Fire burns within us

Our sun, life giving source of energy and heat, governing all aspects of vitality and fertility on our planet. He brings the time to sow and the time to reap, the time to be lively and enjoy, as well as the time to become still and rest. Anything it touches changes completely. Burnt to ash, melted into a different form, scarred. Nothing can be the same after the sanctifying touch of fire.

Anything the Sun touches changes completely

He transmutes energy, consuming the life force of what he touches and sending it back in to the pool of creation – back to pure potential. On a physical level, our body’s internal fire is very fragile – a perfect temperature needs to be maintained for our organism to function properly. One degree warmer or colder and our body becomes ill.

The sun transmutes energy

By having our fire element burn too high or too low can make us emotionally, mentally and spiritually ill too. Too much passion or ambition can drive us crazy with ego, burning away all the other things in our lives because we are chasing too much. When it burns down low and we lose our purpose, we spiral downwards very fast, losing the will and energy to live. When the fire burns out, in just an instant, life will cease to exist.

The sun transmutes energy

Become still under the sun, close your eyes and turn your face towards him. Feel the energy carried in his heat, his light, entering you, shining in to your core. Allow yourself to be filled with his fire and allow him to sanctify you, transmuting all parts of you that are ready to be set free, to become pure potential again.

Allow yourself to be filled with the Sun's fire

Let him bring balance to your fire element, controlling your passion and ambition to be focused without losing touch with the rest of your world. If you are burning low, without drive and passion, ask him to reignite the life within you to move you forward. Like a plant photosynthesizes, absorb the energy of the sun and allow it to make you grow in all aspects of your being. When you feel you have done enough, give thanks to the eternal father, fire and breathe yourself back in to your body.

Absorb the energy of the sun

These descriptions and practices have barely scraped the surface of how the Elements operate in our existence and how we can form relationships with them, accessing and using their energy and teachings in our day to day lives to help us become masters of ourselves, but they bring a starting point of what can be a beautiful relationship with the Elements and yourself. Let Nature teach you, after all, it is what created you… us… everything.

Earth & Water – we all know them, but do we know how they affect us and how we can use them in our daily lives to restore balance and bring healing to ourselves and our environment? As an Andean Solar Priest, we are taught about the intricate relationship between the elements of nature as well as their influence upon us as humans. In this 2 part series I would love to share a few basic insights based on the teachings of the Sacred Andean Tradition. Read Part 2 here.

EARTH – Transforms us

Beautiful mother and bountiful provider. The Earth brings forth everything physical in our lives. She governs our physical reality, like a mother, giving us shelter and food, clothing us and allowing us to grow through her nourishment. Anything tangible came from this earth, no matter how much it may have been altered or modified by humans after taking it from the earth, it is from the earth. When we think of the Earth in this way, we can learn to call on her energy to help us navigate and change our physical situation and transform it into something more supportive. The same way she can break down an old leaf and turn it into nourishing food for another plant, she can take the energies that no longer serve us and transform it into something that can feed us.

The same way she can break down an old leaf and turn it into nourishing food for another plant, she can take the energies that no longer serve us and transform it into something that can feed us.

Within our bodies, we carry all the same components that make up the earth; vitamins, minerals, metals, all up to atomic level, we are made up out of the same composition of our mother earth. So when we are in lack of any of these, with practice, we can absorb these from her to restore health and balance to our organism.

We can draw energy from others (which could be seen as energy vampirism), as well as the physical world around us. To start working with the Earth in an energetic way, go out to her and make contact with her. Take off your shoes and sit in a position where the soles of your feet touch the earth and you can lay the palms of your hands on her too, or lay down with your shirt lifted up and make contact with your navel. Then, start talking to her, telling her your worries, fears and secrets, your ailments and the things that aren’t right in your reality.

Start talking to Mother Earth

Ask her to absorb the energy of all these things from you and feel her take it. Listen to her answer as she takes this energy and starts transforming it, changing it into something beneficial and nurturing for you and returning it back to you. Thank her and take a few deep breaths and continue with your day. You will feel much lighter and energized. Doing this regularly will form a powerful, sacred bond with you and the Mother.

Listen to Mother Earth

WATER – Cleanses us

Formed from earth, birthed from water. From our most vulnerable state as a fetus, until the day we depart from this form, we are dependent on this element.

Formed from earth, birthed from water

Our entire organism is nothing more than a compilation of tiny sacks of water – cells. She flows, she freezes and she flies – as do we, with our emotions. The element of water is directly tied to our emotional state and expression.

Water flows, she freezes and she flies

When we become disconnected, depressed, or struggle with grief, we tend to freeze over, become hard and cold to the world. When we fall in love, or we become fired up with passion, we boil and become gaseous, flying high, out of touch with reality. We go through storms of anger, emotional high and low tides, tranquil flowing times and sometimes confusing rapids. In our body, she gives signals of our emotional pains through our kidneys and our liver, even our blood. We need to pay close attention to these messages so we can work with her.

When we feel emotionally stuck like a stagnant pool, frozen like a block of ice, or floating like gaseous clouds, we can work with the element of water to return to balance, tranquility and flow. She will wash over our spirit, rinse through our soul and clean out all the muck that is keeping us from clarity.

Water will was over our spirit

Find a stream of flowing water and sit by it, you can even enter the stream if you are comfortable, and face downstream, seeing the water flowing away from you. Visualize and/or feel the water coming from behind and washing over you, through you, and away from you and see all your mucky energy being washed away, downstream, far away from you. Feel the water rinse through every cell in your body and every vibration of your energy, cleansing you fully.

Ask the water to bring back flow and tranquility to you. To melt your frozen parts and bring down the rains from your floating clouds. Ask her to restore balance to the water aspect of your being. Thank her for what she has done for you and take a few deep breaths to come back to yourself. Once a strong relationship is formed with the Water in this way, you will be able to work with water in any form, be it from a tap, a shower, a pool, the ocean. Just keep love and respect in your heart and she will cleanse you.

Read Part 2 here.

When I was about 14 I went to a fortune teller at a theme park. A friend and I did it just as a joke. She took one look at my tea-cup full of leaves and gave me a peculiar look which I just shook off. She gave us our readings and we left. I went home and wrote down a few things that she told me and as time went by I realised that many of the things had come true. I kind of shrugged it off as self-fulfilling prophesies and thinking “Well if you are going to look for the connections you will find them”.

My first ever reading was with a lady who read tea leaves

About a decade and a half later I sought out a psychic again. I was in the aftermath of one of the most excruciating heartbreaks that I have ever experienced, and I reached out to her as if I was grasping at straw. One of the first things she asked me is “Why are you scared of your spirituality?” I was there for a love reading and had no interest in discussing my spirituality. At the time I was a yoga teacher- trained in Nepal. I wore a Raktu seed mala wrapped around my wrist and chanted mantra’s while I did yoga. I was spiritual AF!

As time went by some of the things that she said to me resonated within. Through working on healing my heartache I was delving deeper and deeper into my soul. At the time I believed that I was a Twin Flame. A unique soul who came to earth to explore unconditional love and to inspire that in others. This fueled me digging deeper and deeper – inspired by the promising allure that one day, once I am whole I would re-unite with the other part of my soul- enticingly packaged in a blond-haired, blue-eyed boy. On a side note, as time progressed the label fell away, as did my unshakable belief in being a Twin flame. Now, if anything, I would label myself as an empath, an intuitive, a clairsentient and a clairvoyant.

I am an empath, an intuitive, a clairsentient and clairvoyant

As I explored more and more of my spirituality I became aware of gifts and abilities that were unique to me. All my life I knew I was different, that I saw and experienced the world different to other people. I had this intuitive knowing about things – usually in the form of a warning- but I never really paid attention to it. While knowing I was different, I thought that everyone has this intuition.

On my journey I found a group of online psychics. They have a chat room and some practice evenings where everyone can join in and read each other. As I slowly came out of my shell I started to realise that the images I see and the words I hear and the messages that I get to give to people don’t arise from my own mind. That they come from something so much bigger than myself… and that they are often exactly what people need to hear. As I began to pay attention I started having dreams- vivid dreams that gave me insight into my current situations, but also prophetic dreams that hinted at things that were to come or happen to me.

As I learned about my gifts and began to pay attention I started getting messages in my dreams

All of this gently guided me to pay better attention. To listen at the whispers and notice the images that flashes through my mind. They weren’t just random thoughts but things that either I or someone else needed to hear.

But it sounds so crazy… doesn’t it?

Yes, I know. I know how it sounds… I hear things, I see things, I just know things… without having any real explanation for them in the physical world. I read people’s energies and I can feel what they are feeling. Heck, I’m even using cards to help with my readings. Devout Christian 15-year-old-me would have wanted to banish the evil out of 34-year-old-me for even thinking of using tarot cards.

My spiritual journey had evolved to such a point that I could no longer ignore who I really am. The universe kept pushing me to explore my skills and delve deeper and learn and grow more and more to the point where I was not only able to accept them, but to where I was pushed to offer these services to others. How could I know the things and not share them in order for others to heal?

How could I know the things and not share them in order for others to heal

All the answers are inside of you

It is true, each of us have some form of intuition, a deeper knowing of things. We just don’t always know how to be open to them. We don’t always know how to pay attention to them. We also don’t always know how to distinguish our intuition from all the other thoughts racing through our minds mingling with all the conditioning thoughts that society has drummed into our psyche’s.

Sometimes you need a little guidance. A voice that speaks through the fog of our minds. And that is what I am aiming to do. To help others along their path. To provide clarity and healing and a safe space for exploration and growth. Because we are all here to become the best versions of ourselves.

“Real men cry” – How many times have you heard an expression like this? Have you ever put any thought in to just how wrong such expressions are? Real men do this, real men don’t do that. Enough already with this “real” man thing. The only thing that makes a man a real man is his biology. The fact that he has a penis. Not how he presents himself, not his sexual orientation and definitely not how he chooses to express his emotions.

'Real men cry' - What is a real man?

As a global society, we are to blame for men not wanting show vulnerability and express their emotions, because for eons men have been chastised for showing their emotions, humiliated and made out as “less of a man” for doing so. How much subconscious pressure has that created? I sometimes wonder how much of an “intelligent” species we are because we imprison ourselves with these standards and norms that hold us back from reaching our full potential and highest expression of ourselves.

There are so many expectations set for men when it comes to emotionally difficult times that we sometimes forget that they too are human with the full range of emotions that humans can experience. But they are so conditioned to always “stay strong” and “take care of their families” that they reach the point where they either freeze up and become completely numb to any sort of emotions (including the warmer emotions of love and joy) or they become walking time bombs of bottled up anger and sadness that eventually explode into derailing depression – because expressing themselves as a normal human with emotions makes them weak. Is it worth it?

Many men think, or are told, that expressing their emotions make them weak

Imagine a world where men are allowed to openly talk about what they are feeling and going through. Not being conditioned from childhood that “boys don’t cry”, “stop being such a girl about it”, “take it like a man”, but are instead supported and protected during their vulnerable times, allowed to express their emotions in any way they feel fit to and to work through their emotions and heal the parts of them that get triggered.

How can we support men to unlearn this conditioning? How do we help them break free of this emotional prison they are in? This is probably the most difficult thing to do, so best we at least start by raising the new generation of men in an emotionally safe and supportive environment. But for the adults, we need to start with supporting them when they try to express themselves. Not to make fun of them when they try to show love and affection, making them feel shy or like a child. Appreciate the small ways they express these higher emotions. Accept it and thank them for it and slowly they will come out more and more – but if they are going to be met with shame and being made fun of for trying; I guarantee it will stop.

Men need a safe and supportive environment to express their emotions

As for the down times, when they are struggling with sadness, depression or grief, it is important to let them express it in any way they feel fit, without validating their emotions, without telling them how much of a good job they are doing expressing themselves and definitely without telling them how they should be doing it. Babying a grown man through difficult emotions will let him retract deeper into himself. Instead, simply acknowledge that they are hurting and make them feel secure by holding space for them and allowing them to be vulnerable; allowing them to work through these emotions in their own way – even if it means just being quiet and cold. If they feel supported and loved when they internalize their lower emotions, they will eventually feel safe enough to express them externally as well. But being told they “need to let it out” is as good as cementing that emotional door shut for them.

For those men who know they struggle with expressing their emotions and want to consciously work on it, there are many avenues they can explore for help and support. Counselling with a psychotherapist is a great start for example. To have a space of no judgement, talking to a stranger who doesn’t know them or anyone they know, may allow them to just start pouring out their internal dialogue with their troubles, leading to understanding of their patterns and then being guided to navigate these feelings.

Counseling can help men explore their emotions

There are holistic techniques and practices that can help with emotional sensitivity and expression too; great examples are Reiki, meditation and mindfulness practices that can help them open up to themselves and learn healthy ways of expressing and managing emotions. Becoming mindful of your emotions, constantly aware of and in touch with how you are feeling, makes it a great deal easier to deal with your emotions as you understand where they come from and can therefor control where they go.

The key lies in that we need to allow men to be vulnerable without being rushed, made fun of or judged. We need to change the way we address things if we want to allow growth and evolution to take place. Let us rephrase what it is we want to portray so that we may speak life! It takes strength to allow yourself to be vulnerable and it is in true vulnerability that you open up to your highest potential and expression.

**Note from the editor: Narcissism is a mental condition only diognosable by mental health professionals. While some of us, if not all of us, sometimes display narcissistic tendencies these diagnosis should only be made by qualified persons. Now, let’s get on to the article…

In today’s day and age we are surrounded by so many people with narcissistic behavior that we probably do not even realize it, because we are living in a world where people are literally being paid to be narcissistic and self-involved. Then we are also living in a day and age where more and more emotionally sensitive people are awakening to their true potential as empaths, here to help people navigate through the emotions of the rapidly evolving consciousness. So what happens when the Empath meets the Narcissist?

What happens when an Empath meets a Narcissist?

I can honestly tell you that there are very few things that really trigger me and gets my water boiling, but one of these very few things is narcissism. As an empath and healer, I can just not understand how a person could be like that? You know, like in the cartoons when they are running ridiculous mathematical formulas or something and their eyes start rolling in their heads with smoke coming out of their ears – that is me trying to understand a narcissist.

I get defensive and angry, shooting from the hip, trying to disarm them and making a fool of myself in the process; like I have no control over my emotional reactions whatsoever. It takes a lot of self-control for me to remain calm and not become reactive when I am around narcissists.

Narcissists sometimes make Empaths lose self control

I can understand people with over-inflated egos, who suffer from deep wounding of emotional trauma and then put up this façade of strength, great self-confidence and big talk about themselves, but narcissists are so different. Most of them do not have self-confidence issues at all, neither do they have self-worth issues; they are very confident and know their value and are very happy to make you aware of it. They are always surrounded by many people, lots of friends and they love crowds. They automatically become the center of attention when they walk in to a room because their presence demands attention; like a raging fire, you can’t help but to look.

When a narcissist walks into a room you cannot help but to look

They lure people in with their magnetic personalities, never revealing their full personality, never showing that raging fire, because then people will show caution from the start. No, they attract people with sweetness and confidence, taking people “under their wing” and “protecting them”, building their following, adding to their fuel stocks to keep the fire going. They understand a person very well, they can read people like open books, getting them to confide in them so they can trust them very easily, using their secrets as a way to keep them captive and close. They need these people around them to be praised constantly, fueling their fire with awe, but they will never allow people to express any of their own deep emotions, sadness or hurt, because that does not feed them and so if they are not being praised, they are quick to point out everyone’s flaws and cast them away as if they are the bad people, the ones doing something wrong, simply because they are not feeding the narcissistic fire. So their fire starts burning stronger, hotter, burning more and more people around them until one day they burn out – left with no one around them to pick them up; the sad ending of narcissists. It is inevitable.

The fire of a narcissist burns hotter and brighter until. one day it burns out.

But why do most empaths have an issue with this type of person? What makes it so hard for an empath to connect to a narcissist and help them? Compare the following paragraph with the one above:

Empaths attract people with their warm personalities, often remaining very shy and introverted as they struggle to open up to others as to not burden them. Their openness and understanding brings many people who come and seek advice, or just someone to talk to, because they know that they are safe and heard in the presence of the empath. Empaths take on the emotions of others to truly understand what they are going through and help them navigate through these emotions to come to resolution and peace, encouraging them to fully express and experience all aspects of themselves. They lovingly point people in the direction of finding, understanding and loving the parts of themselves that need healing. They become the cheerleader and motivate people to become better versions of themselves. Through this they become surrounded by loving people who understand boundaries, love themselves and love those around them.

Empaths love themselves and love those around them

So when these two come together, there is an unspoken power struggle that erupts: the narcissist trying to draw praise from the empath and the empath seeing the harm the narcissist is causing themselves and others and trying to get through to the narcissist to help. The only way an empath can help a person is if the person allows them in, knowing that they are hurt and in need of help. Narcissists never see themselves as hurt or hurting others and so will never accept an offer of help as they “see no need for it”, so the empath is stuck seeing a train that is going to derail with no way to help – and this is deeply disturbing to an empath. Here are some ideas on how empaths can protect themselves.

Empaths see (or feel) narcissists as a train about to derail

So what can an empath do in order to be of service and help narcissists and those they affect? No amount of pushing is going to get the narcissist to open up and accept that they are in fact in need of help. The best thing you can do for them and those around them is to wrap the narcissist in love, with the intention that this covering of love will contain their fire so that it does not hurt people around them, but at the same time that it will reflect back to them their behavior so that may see and wake up to the truth of their situation, and so come to their own realization that they need to make changes – and then the empath can step in and do the work.
